About Joanne
Jo completed her studies at Curtin University in Western Australia. Jo has worked in the human services field for the past 25 years. After completing her studies Jo worked in youth and family counselling roles before moving to Corrective Services where she has provided therapeutic interventions and assessments for a range of regional and metropolitan locations. This work allowed for an opportunity for development of skills working across a variety of presenting problems and situational factors. Jo has also provided clinical supervision throughout her career and finds this a rewarding role to see the potential and growth of supervisees as they flourish.
In 2015 Jo became interested in yoga and mindfulness and co-designed and ran mindfulness meditation groups in the community. She simultaneously commenced working as a private practitioner providing individual interventions in the community with adults and young people.
In addition to assessment skills for complex risk issues, Jo has developed skill in interventions for a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, parenting difficulties and behaviour change for alcohol, drug and risk taking behaviours. Jo works with young people and adults. Jo has warmth, empathy and a capacity to focus on solutions that are unique and specifically designed to match the individual.
