Dr Michael Stapelberg is a General Practitioner with a advanced training in Skin CancerMedicine and General Practice Dermatology.He graduated with Bachelor of Science with first class honours in Anatomy from the Universityof Queensland, which was followed by four years full-time research at the DermatologyResearch Laboratories at the University of Sydney. He received the prestigiousUniversity of Sydney Postgraduate Award, investigating how sunlight damages the skin’simmune system and was awarded a postgraduate Doctorate (PhD) in Medicine for thiswork. He then further consolidated his research by undertaking a Post Doctoral ResearchFellowship at the world-leading Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine and Cell Biologyand then Griffith University while completing his Medical degree (MBBS). He has publishedextensively in leading Dermatology peer-reviewed journals, including the Journalof Investigative Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery, and has presented at nationaland international conferences.Following his Medical studies, he began post graduate clinical training in Queensland atthe Princess Alexandra, the Prince Charles, and Gold Coast University Hospitals. He thencompleted his fellowship with The Royal Australian College of GeneralPractitioners (FRACGP) and has focused on Skin Cancer Medicine and General PracticeDermatology by completing extensive course work and qualifications through The SkinCancer College Australasia, and completing the internationally recognised Diploma inPractical Dermatology from Cardiff University, UK. He is an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctorand has expert skills in diagnosis of Skin Cancer, Advanced Skin Cancer Surgery includingflaps and grafts, non surgical skin cancer management and General PracticeDermatology.
