Dr Emily Farrell graduated as a medical practitioner from Flinders University in 2005 and also holds a Bachelor of Applied Health Science from the University of Queensland. Emily is a specialist General Practitioner and gained her fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2010. Since joining Queensland Knee Surgery Clinic (QKSC) in 2013, Emily has developed a keen interest in Sports Medicine and has recently completed her Graduate Certificate in Sports Medicine at the University of Queensland. She is also a member of Sports Medicine Australia.
Her role at QKSC includes assessment and management of the acutely injured knee, care of patients with knee pain not requiring surgery, pre-operative general medical assessment, assisting with surgery as well as post-operative surgical and medical care of patients who have undergone knee surgery. As Emily assists Dr Gallagher throughout all stages of the non-operative and operative patient care pathway, she is a vital resource to most patients. For those patients requiring surgery she can offer a unique pre-operative perspective of their upcoming procedure including what’s involved both during and after surgery. Emily has also become an essential part of the post operative rehabilitation for many patients, where she affords a high priority to the wound care and pain management in the early stages of the recovery process.
Outside of the clinic, Emily is a strong advocate for the profession and patients, holding a number of representative and governance rolls and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Emily also has training in the visual arts and is an abstract painter when time permits.
