Overview

Dr McGregor’s greatest achievement was in placing third in a paper aeroplane competition run by a local university engineering department. His score was calculated by multiplying the hang time with the distance travelled. His wife believes the throw benefited from a lucky wind gust, although Dr McGregor strenuously denies this.

Dr McGregor was born and raised a Novocastrian, whence he moved to Sydney to study medicine and surgery. After completion of his medical degree, he interned at the Prince of Wales Hospital and then did his Residency at the Royal North Shore Hospital. He spent several years working in the Northern Sydney Area Health Service/Royal North Shore Hospital, mainly in Accident and Emergency and Intensive Care, until he got fed up and chose to get out of A+E by becoming a Psychiatric Registrar. Oddly enough, by working as a Psychiatric Registrar, he often found himself back in A+E.

Initially, as a Psychiatric Registrar, he worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital. He worked and trained in the Mood Disorders Unit (now the Black Dog Institute) and was under the direct and exclusive one on one supervision of Professor Gordon Parker, who founded said unit, for six months.

Later, Dr McGregor returned to the Northern Area Health Service and worked extensively at the Royal North Shore Hospital and the Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals. All in all, he has worked at some 20 hospitals in NSW and the ACT. It is the Northern Beaches Psychiatric Services, however, which he is most familiar with.

Eventually, Dr McGregor worked as the Clinical Director of the North-West Tasmanian Health Organisation and Area Health Service before returning to Sydney to start his dream of a Private Psychiatric and Psychological Medical Practice. He is an Adult Consultant Specialist Psychiatrist, with an interest in complex pharmacological management and Transmagnetic Stimulation. He is keen to start a Ketamine trial for treatment resistant depression in due course.

Most importantly Dr McGregor aims to one day achieve a Level 40 upgrade for his Barbarian King and Queen in Clash of Clans. His preferred attack strategy employs a Quadrolavaloonian approach, with a combination of four lava hounds, minions, balloons and rage/freeze spells. His wife wonders if he needs therapy for this.
