For Gisely, dentistry runs in the family. In 1988, she graduated as a dentist from the University Federal of Alfenas, Brazil—the same university that her father, uncles, aunties and cousins graduated from.

Gisely furthered her education by completing her Master of Dental Paediatrics in 1991 at the Brazilian Airforce Technological Center in Sao Paulo. Additionally, she obtained a Master in Orthodontics with the Sao Paulo Dental Surgeon Association concluding in 1993. In Brazil, she is a specialist in paediatric and orthodontic treatment.

For more than a decade, Gisely worked in private practice in Brazil. She was an active member of the Brazilian Orthodontic Society and also a member of the Dental Association in Sao Paulo.

In 2000, Gisely moved to Australia and began working at My Dentist as a dental assistant. She married and had two children while studying for her dental exams to convert her degree to Australian standards. In 2010, Gisely passed the Australian Dental Council examinations to be recognised as a general dentist in Australia.

After spending three years back in Brazil with her family, she rejoined our practice in 2013 practising general dentistry with a particular interest in preventative dentistry and orthodontics. Through the years, Gisely has taken many continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest in the field.

For Gisely, the most fulfilling aspect of being a dentist is helping people to be more aware of their oral health and how it impacts general health. As poor oral health can contribute to many different diseases, she is passionate about communicating the importance of keeping one’s teeth and gums healthy.

When she’s not at the practice caring for our patients’ smiles, Gisely loves the arts, travelling and going to the beach with her children and friends.
