Dr Nita Agar is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She graduated from The University of Sydney in Medicine with Honours. She was awarded a PhD for her work on the genetics of skin cancer by the University of Sydney with her research leading to a landmark publication on the role of UVA in skin carcinogenesis.
On completion of her Dermatology Specialist training, Dr Nita Agar was awarded a Scholarship from the Australasian College of Dermatologists to undertake a clinical fellowship in Skin Tumours at the St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital, London. Following her fellowship she continued as a consultant at St John’s and lead of its Nonmelanoma Skin Cancer Service.
She is currently a Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has a special interest in skin tumours and general dermatology. She is also NSW Mentorship Director for the Australasian College of Dermatology.
Throughout her career Dr Agar has published many articles in leading journals. She also remains actively involved in teaching both medical students and dermatology registrars. She has been the recipient of numerous scholarships including the Roche Traveling Scholarship, Schering Plough Research Scholarship and Florance Bequest.
Dr Agar offers a broad range of general medical and surgical dermatological services including skin cancer checks and skin cancer management.
