Emma is a GP with a warm and open personality and she very much enjoys getting to know her patients and their families.
Born in Townsville, Emma studied a science degree (with a double major in psychology) and later postgraduate medicine at UQ Brisbane. She completed her intern and resident doctor years at the Townsville Hospital from 2005-2007. Emma has worked in general practice in the Townsville region since 2008 and at Townsville Family Medical since 2013.
Besides her RACGP fellowship Emma has also completed a Diploma in Child Health, Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Certificate in Sexual Health and Family Planning, Diploma in Dermatology and various certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine and Dermoscopy.
Emma enjoys all aspects of family medicine across the lifespan but has particular interests in Women’s Health, shared Antenatal care and Paediatrics. Emma is qualified to perform Visa, AMSA and Rail (Cat 1, 2 and 3) medical examinations. She is also a regular examiner for the Royal Australian College of GPs. Besides her GP work Emma also does some private surgical assisting at the Mater Hospital.
Emma is a married mother of two busy, and much loved primary school aged kids. When she has some spare time on her hands Emma very much enjoys spending time with her family, movies, reading and running (slowly!).
