Jason has a background as High School Teacher, before qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008. Jason’s training in Psychology was eclectic, including training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic principles, Narrative Therapy and family Systems work.
Jason is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA and the APS (Australian Psychology Society).
Jason worked both in South Africa and Australia in various roles, both in Public and Private Health Settings. Through his work in Public Health/ Community settings, Jason developed a strong interest in Attachment Theory, which grounds his work with clients now.
Jason’s goal in working with his clients in a therapeutic setting is to equip you, as a client, to change patterns of behaviours in your life that you may be struggling with; allow you to connect with the (often) difficult feelings being suppressed by these behaviours; and thus be able to engage in a more fulfilling life.
Working with adults across the lifespan spectrum, Jason will seek information about your history and family of origin, as he builds a ‘picture’ of your life. While you may be experiencing difficulties with life now, very often the roots of these challenges go back to childhood/ teenage years. So, by building an understanding of his clients across their lifetime, Jason can tailor his treatment approach for you. In therapy, Jason will work from a Psychodynamic/ Attachment (lens) focus, but may certainly also employ Cognitive Behavioural support techniques to bring relief of symptoms. Jason works alongside his clients to explore and understand the impact of life experiences, on the challenges his clients face now.
