Australia’s largest online healthcare marketplace, today announced details of a landmark year for the company.

After raising AU$26.7 million in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia India early in the year – one of the 10 biggest capital raises from Aussie startups in 2017 – the company has gone on to enjoy significant growth across almost every metric. Highlights include:

  • Year-on-year growth in active users of 87%, reaching over 1.5 million a month
  • Huge employee growth, with total workforce numbers doubling, employee numbers in the Sydney office tripling, a Melbourne co-workspace, and a new office in Perth to accommodate growth
  • The appointment of two new senior leaders: ex-Citibank IT Director, Mark Hammond, as Head of Technology, Engineering and Data Security; and Mark Dick, LinkedIn Australia’s former Sales Director, as Head of Sales
  • Product development including four new products launches, four beta launches, and eight more features or updates
  • Integration with My Health Record, and the launch of Medication Manager to help users manage their prescriptions, which has reached over 23,000 downloads in the two months since launch in October

HealthEngine’s growth across the board saw the company place 23rd in Deloitte’s annual Fast 50 list of the fastest growing technology companies in Australia, with 305% revenue growth over the three years 2015 to 2017.

Dr Marcus Tan, HealthEngine’s CEO and Medical Director said, “2017 has been a landmark year for HealthEngine, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.”

“Alongside the capital raise, we’ve seen tremendous growth in user and subscriber numbers. These factors have enabled us to invest in employee growth, and add around 70 new people to our team, including new senior hires to help lead us to the next stage of growth.”

“From moving to new offices in Perth and Sydney, to launching a new product every four weeks on average, 2017 has been a year when being ‘happy in the hustle’ has never been truer. We have even more planned next year, including new product launches, and continuing our hiring efforts. I can’t wait to empower even more Australians to manage their healthcare in 2018.”
