Dr Magennis gained his medical degree from Monash University in Melbourne in 1981. After graduating he chose to enter a training program to specifically become a General Practitioner. He has trained at the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital, the Alfred Hospital and the Kingston Geriatric Hospital. These facilities provided the knowledge and experience needed to confidently enter into General Practice. He gained further knowledge and experience assisting a plastic surgeon one day a week for over a decade.

Dr Magennis has worked in General Practice for over 34 years. His manner is gentle and friendly, and he very much enjoys working with his patients to have them fully understand any medical conditions they may present with. He is vocationally registered and regularly attends medical conferences and workshops to keep up to date.
