Overview

Dr Vee Maliyasena graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Monash University in 2003. She worked at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney during her residency and basic physician training.

Dr Maliyasena commenced specialist training in Respiratory Medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. Afterwards, for undertaking research with the Queensland Centre for Pulmonary Transplantation and Vascular Diseases based at The Prince Charles Hospital she moved to Brisbane in 2010. Her research was published and she also presented it at national conferences.

Vee worked at The Prince Charles Hospital and Caboolture Hospital to complete her specialist training in General and Acute Care Medicine. She attained the fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2012. She continued her training and pursued a post-fellowship training in Respiratory Medicine at Royal Perth Hospital. After that, she came back to The Prince Charles Hospital to take up a position as a Staff Specialist in 2014.

As a doctor in Kippa-Ring, Dr Maliyasena specialises in taking care of patients with all types of Respiratory disorders and providing comprehensive evidence-based care. She provides assistance for the management of patients with General Medical conditions as well.

Vee is not only passionate about practising but also about medical teaching. She provides her services as a Senior Lecturer for the medical students of the University of Queensland. She actively takes part in supervising and mentoring physician trainees. She also served as the Director of Advanced Training (General Medicine) while working at The Prince Charles Hospital.
