Dr Okafor Omenka is a dedicated, empathic, and caring General Practitioner. Prior to working in Australia, he gained extensive experience in General Practice and General Medicine while working in Nigeria and Barbados. He took care of a diverse clientele and patients from different socio-economic backgrounds.
Dr Omenka holds a fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Nigeria in 1999. He holds the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Certificate as well. Along with his general practice work and training, he also completed his further training in General Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Okafor worked for a few years as a Specialist Senior Registrar in Nephrology but due to his passion for general practice, he did not continue in this field. He enjoys working as a GP because it allows him to provide continuity of care to his patients and wants to fully commit his time to general practice.
In 2014, Dr Omenka moved to Australia from Barbados with his family and worked as a GP in the magnificent island state of Tasmania. The local communities of Bicheno and Coles Bay well-loved him before he relocated to the Gold Coast.
Okafor is a married family man and has 3 children. Other than working as a medical professional, he loves to spend quality time with his family. He enjoys outdoor activities like bushwalking and loves soccer. He is an enthusiastic traveller and enjoys the beauty of nature as well as exploring new sceneries. Whenever he gets the opportunity, he loves to have some quiet time and read inspirational books on spirituality, personal development and human psychology.
Dr Omenka’s vast experience set him apart as a highly competent doctor in Southport. He is passionate about offering quality care and optimising your health. He takes a special interest in Preventive Care and Chronic Disease Management.
