Late-onset hypogonadism is a condition characterised by abnormally low levels of testosterone in men over 40 years of age. The condition is caused by naturally declining testosterone production, and is sometimes also referred to as andropause or male menopause.

The process through which a man’s testosterone production declines is gradual, and therefore very different to menopause in women, which refers to the rapid cessation of menstrual cycles.
