Overview
Colin Longworth is a “Baby Boomer” who started his mainly part-time Psychology studies as a mature-aged student, while juggling work, studies and home life
His qualifications include a four year Psychology degree from Edith Cowan University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from Murdoch University.
He brings to the role of Counsellor, Coach and Psychologist, over a half century’s life experience. Which role, Counsellor, Coach or Psychologist, he takes on largely depends on what the client wants or needs.
In addition to usual in-person consultations, he also offers Telehealth, either under Medicare (assuming their requirements are met) or on a full fee for service basis, for people anywhere in Australia, with a good telephone or internet connection.
Recognising that for many people coming to a consultation within the "'normal" 9-5 timeframe can be difficult, as well as to be "bloke-friendly" he offers (for a slightly increased fee) consultations on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Apart from earlier “blue collar” work, more recent employment includes a variety of human services work such as a counsellor in the employment services and disabilities fields. This is in addition to co-facilitating groups in the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) sector (in a Prison Farm setting) and another group for perpertrators of Domestic Violence (DV).
Other earlier work (before becoming a fully registered Psychologist) included working for about a decade in Centrelink, working in all payment areas, as well as at the Career Information Centre (CIC). This is in addition to working for a short time in the Child Protection area.
So overall a collection of professional and other experience that will (hopefully) enable you to develop a good professional therapeutic relationship, whether you are making use of a daytime or "out of hours" consultation..
