Poh completed her studies at University of Western Australia in Western Australia, while working as a support worker for teenagers and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Poh’s Masters research was on internalizing and externalising behaviours in teenagers with mild intellectual disabilities.

Poh has over 12 years’ experience in both public and private sectors, working with clients experiencing a range of developmental and mental health concerns. She spent the early years of her career working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families in contemporary Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA-based) early intervention, autism assessment and specialist positive behaviour support. This extensive experience has built her ability to engage individuals with ASD in counselling. Known for her empathic and down-to-earth character, Poh can easily connect with individuals of different ages. She is also fluent in speaking both English and Mandarin.

Poh blends principles of contextual behavioural science (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory in her practice in order to support young people and adults to develop awareness and deal with life challenges differently.

Poh is passionate about supporting children (5 years and above), young people and adults with neuro-diversities (e.g., ASD, ADHD, giftedness) to engage meaningfully and thrive in their lives. Her areas of interest include the following but are not limited to:

• Adjustment problems to major life transitions

• Anxiety and depression

• Grief and loss

• Parent-child relationships

• School-related distress
