Tom has gained valuable experience in various mental health roles over the past ten years including corporate, vocational, behavioural management and clinical. Tom has experience working across different cultural backgrounds and has competent Mandarin speaking skills. Tom enjoys providing therapy to help clients overcome barriers including: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma related issues, substance abuse and low-self-esteem. Tom is skilled in administering a range of cognitive, academic, diagnostic and risk assessments. Tom maintains an active interest in neurobehavioural sciences, specifically, attention, consciousness, learning systems and behaviour and trauma related psychological disorders. More recently Tom has provided telehealth counselling for people experiencing mental health issues due to Covid19. Tom has also been responsible for the development and implementation of behavioural interventions for children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, behavioural difficulties or those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. He has also provided cognitive behavioural interventions for children and adolescents experiencing anxiety and depression.
Qualifications
Tom has been awarded a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), and a Masters of Rehabilitation Counselling, both from the University of Sydney.
Registrations & Memberships
Tom is a registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Areas of Special Interest
Substance abuse, bipolar, depression, generalised anxiety disorder (worry), post-traumatic stress disorder, adjustment issues, agoraphobia, and panic disorder.
