Dr. Tonks completed his medical degree at the University of Otago in New Zealand, followed by advanced specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery across New Zealand and Sydney. His comprehensive training laid a strong foundation for a career spanning the full spectrum of plastic surgery.

Following his formal training, Dr. Tonks began his clinical practice in Sydney before relocating to Canberra, where he has provided expert surgical care in both the public and private health sectors for over 18 years. He has developed particular expertise in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery, and Hand Surgery, with a reputation for delivering meticulous, patient-centred care.

Dr. Tonks is a committed member of the surgical community and maintains active membership in several professional associations, including the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), and the Australian Hand Surgery Society (AHSS).
