Overview

This comprehensive eye health assessment will be carried out by a second or final-year student from the University of Western Australia’s Doctor of Optometry program, under the close supervision of a qualified, experienced optometrist. There is no out-of-pocket associated fee with these consultations, and you do not require a Medicare card or health insurance to attend.

The initial examination may take up to 2 hours, which includes comprehensive testing, retinal imaging and discussions about treatment options and recommendations. Follow-up appointments are usually shorter.

Dilating eye drops may be used in your examination, which will cause a temporary blurring of your vision and light sensitivity. Please bring your sunglasses and organise transportation on the day. For more details on what is involved in these consultations, please visit our website: https://ehcwa.com.au/primary-care-clinic/

Please note: Our Primary Care Clinic is only available for individuals aged 14 years and up. In addition, for patients under 16 years old, an adult must be present for the duration of the appointment. For information regarding booking children below the age of 14, please contact the clinic directly on 6488 7429. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
