Billing Policy

Dianella Family Medical Centre operates as a private billing practice.

Payment is required on the day of appointment or over the phone.

Bulk Billing

Bulk billing is available only for the following patient groups between 8:00am and 4:00pm:

• Children under 12 years of age
• Patients aged 70 years and over who hold a valid Pension Card

Bulk billing is not available outside these hours, including appointments booked before 8:00am or after 4:00pm, regardless of age or concession status.

After-Hours Appointments

Appointments booked before 8:00am or after 6:00pm are considered after-hours consultations and will incur an additional after-hours fee, payable at the time of consultation.

Medicare Rebates

Patients who are eligible for Medicare may receive a rebate for services provided.

• Rebates are generally processed within 24–48 hours when payment is made using a savings or debit card,
• If you don’t receive the rebate within this time frame you will need to contact reception to receive the invoice and claim manually.
• Credit cards are accepted for payment; however, Medicare rebates cannot be returned to credit cards
• Patients who do not have a savings or debit card will need to advise reception so they can send it to Medicare accordingly.

Consultation Length

Standard consultations are booked in 15-minute appointments.If you believe you require a longer appointment, please contact the practice directly to arrange an appropriate booking.

Appointments Requiring Nurse Attendance

The following appointments cannot be booked online and require booking through the practice to ensure appropriate time and staff availability:

• Comprehensive Health Checks
• Children’s Immunisations & Vaccinations
• Driver’s Licence Medicals
• Wound Care & Dressings
• Warfarin Management (INR)
• Removal of Sutures
• ECG
• Ear Syringing
• Annual Diabetic Checks
• Minor Procedures
• Spirometry
• Desensitisation
• Cervical Screening (Pap Smears when booking with a male doctor)
