Dr Stephen Lee consults weekly at OGCG in North Melbourne.

Dr Stephen Lee is also a Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the prestigious Royal Women’s Hospital in Parkville, Melbourne. At the Royal Women’s Hospital, he is in charge of the Acute Gynaecology Service, which handles all acute gynaecological emergencies. He is also an integral part of both the Gynaecology 1 Unit, which specialises in abnormal menstrual bleeding, and the Gynaecology 2 Unit, which specialises in endometriosis and gynaecological pain.

Stephen graduated from University of Melbourne in 2002 and subsequently undertook Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at the Monash Medical Centre. He went on to complete an Advanced Laparoscopy Fellowship at Royal Women’s Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the Australiasian Gynaecological Endosurgery Society.

Stephen is known for his warm demeanour, thorough clinical assessments and expert surgical skills. He is interested in all areas of gynaecology, with a special interest in the treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids and pelvic pain. 

Stephen enjoys good coffee and spending time with his wife and two young children.

  • Minimally Invasive Gynaecology - approaching gynaecological surgery laparoscopically (using key hole surgery), vaginally or hysteroscopically has advantages of improved cosmetic outcome, reduced pain and shorter recovery. Dr Stephen Lee is trained to perform total and subtotal laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic treatment of severe endometriosis, laparoscopic treatment of Caesarean scar and cornual ectopic pregnancy, laparoscopic tubal re-anastomosis, laparoscopic treatment of stress incontinence and uterovaginal prolapse, single incision laparoscopic surgery for hysterectomy and Fallopian tube and ovary disease. Dr Stephen Lee is also trained to perform advanced hysteroscopic procedures such as resection of submucosal fibroid, endometrial ablation and resection, division of intrauterine synechiae and uterine septum and tubal catheterisation for proximal tubal obstruction.
  • General Gynaecology - Dr Stephen Lee’s training at renowned institutions such as the Monash Medical Centre and Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne and Nottingham University Hospital in the United Kingdom has allowed him to develop expertise in a wide range of common yet potentially complex gynaecological problems such as endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroids, ovarian cysts, vaginal discharge, menopause in women with a history of cancer, uterovaginal prolapse and urinary incontinence, contraception in women with medical disorders, long term contraception, Pap smear abnormalities and sexual dysfunction.
