Charan is qualified from the University of Western Australia's School of Human Movement and Exercise Science. He has a Bachelor in Science and Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation.

Charan's has studied Human Movement (Exercise Physiology and Sports Science), Structural and Spinal Balancing (Dry Needling and Dorn Spinal Therapy) and Energy Healing.Charan has performed at elite level sport having been a representative at several world championships as well as the Commonwealth Games. his experience includes working as an Exercise Physiologist for the Kenyan National Olympic Team.Charan has been practicing as a therapist since 2003 and has been in full time practice since 2005 when he established the Parklands Sports Medicine Clinic.
He has worked in hospital settings, multi-disciplinary clinics as well as general practice and is an advocate for a biopsychosocial model of care.
Charan has a special interest in pain management and has been working in this area since 2005.
After missing out on the 2002 Commonwealth Games due to an ankle injury Charan has experienced on a personal level the effect injury has on one's life, and more importantly what is required to overcome it.
