Overview
I was raised here in Mount Lawley and attended UWA for my undergraduate medical degree. I completed my Masters in Family Medicine from Monash University and my Fellowship with the College of General Practitioners, and am currently doing further study in medical education at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle, which helps me with my part-time work there as a medical educator.
I’ve worked at Royal Perth Hospital and in various agencies around Perth. I’ve previously worked in suburban general practices in Lockridge and Bayswater, 7 years at the DerbarlYerrigan Health Service as well as a stint at the Aboriginal health service in Roebourne. I’ve worked at Third Avenue Surgery since 2002 and count myself very lucky to work with great colleagues and lovely people who choose us to care for them.
My interests in General Practice are varied and cross the lifespan. I am interested in supporting individuals and families with the many common and not so common challenges that are part of life. I realise whether the problem is large or small, simple or complicated by other problems, the patient and their family have their own ideas, concerns and feelings and they will often want to choose from the best available evidence based options and access services that support them. I am keen to assist wherever I can.
Aside from work, we are blessed to have two boys who regularly remind me of the modern day challenges of parenting. They are more than happy to help me fill in any spare time I have and when not with them, I try to swim and get out and about for a coffee.
