Overview
Dr Christopher Bleakey grew up in Belfast and attained the Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Queen’s University in 2001. He worked across Northern Ireland during most of his hospital training. Prior to relocating to Chester in 2007 to complete his GP training, he spent a year in Brisbane. In 2009, he became a partner in a surgery in Belfast and also spent the same year working as one of the local hospice doctors.
Dr Bleakey decided to relocate to Perth with his wife and a child, after 34 years excluding a year which he spent in Brisbane. His wife is a GP as well, and together they worked in a bulk-billing surgery for 2 years in Midland. He decided to move to private billing surgeries at that time, because it enables a doctor to provide higher quality health care as well as to spend more time with each patient. Their aim is to leave the NHS.
It's been a few years that Christopher has been working at Third Avenue Surgery and whenever he can, he provides his services for the GP After Hours folks as well. He holds a membership of the Royal College of General Practitioner of the UK (MRCGP) and a fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
Dr Bleakey is a highly skilled GP in Mount Lawley who specialises in all areas of general practice and keenly interested in preventing illness to avoid its harmful effects. He doesn't force healthy people to see the doctor but is competent to educate and support them so if anything happens wrong, it can be treated swiftly as well as efficiently.
Christopher is a cyclist and tries to lead by example in maintaining fitness. Apart from cycling, he proudly calls himself a nerd and most of his spare time is spent entertaining or distracting his two children. He is thankful to the variety of family-friendly activities that Perth and surrounding areas has to offer.
