Overview
I was born in Malaysia and am of Sri Lankan descent. Having parents who were Doctors led to my early interest in a career in Medicine.
After primary school education in Malaysia, I spent my secondary school years as a boarder in Cheltenham, England and then went on to study Medicine in Dublin, Ireland.
I enjoyed my junior doctor years in Scotland working in various specialties and gaining my Diplomas in Child Health and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Those years helped me decide on my chosen path of General Practice. I loved the relationships formed with the continuity of care and the privilege of helping people from birth to end of life.
I completed my training in General Practice and passed my Fellowship exams in Birmingham, England before moving with my young family in 2008 to sunny Bunbury. I have spent the last 12 years as a GP in Bunbury and also worked for 5 years as a Breast Physician in the Bunbury branch of Breastscreen WA. I held the positions of director and chairperson of the Koombana Health Network and also examined medical students for the rural clinical school. I have also been involved with Headspace Bunbury and the South West Cancer Strategic team.
My move to Perth was prompted by my children's tertiary education and I now find myself in a fortunate position of working with an inspiring and supportive team at Third Avenue Surgery. I hope to form some lasting bonds with my new patients and families as we work together to keep you in good health.
