Overview
Dr Vimalan Selvaratnam is a Malay speaking General Practitioner consulting at our Dover Gardens Medical Centre with special interests in orthopaedics, sports medicine, skin cancer medicine, urology and men's health. He also has a keen interest in Mental Health.
Vimalan undertook his medical training at the University of Auckland, New Zealand graduating in 2006.
He has worked in numerous tertiary hospitals across New Zealand and Australia. His first post was Wellington Hospital where he spent 4 years as an intern, Resident Medical Officer and registrar. He then moved to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, QLD and covered regional hospitals during his time there.
He was in the hospital system for a good number of years as a registrar, mostly in surgical subspecialties. He has vast experience in orthopaedics, urology and surgical subspecialties (cardiothoracic and neurosurgery), also working in intensive care and emergency. After 10 long years of hospital service Dr.Selvaratnam decided to follow in the footsteps of his mother and late father in pursuing a career in General Practice.
His interests outside of medicine include scuba diving, badminton and has recently delved into astrophotography.
