Dr Jill Maxwell

Dr Jill Maxwell (OAM) has been a General Practitioner since 1976 and is the principal and owner of Adelaide City General Practice. She established the practice with the vision to provide healthcare to a diverse clientele. She works with disable people, refugees and the homeless population, which shows her strong commitment to social justice. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Adelaide.

Dr Maxwell’s vast experience set her apart as a highly competent doctor in Adelaide. She is the practice’s principal supervisor of medical students and registrars. She has been teaching Disability Medicine to medical students for a long time. She was the Board Member of the Medical Insurance Group Australia from 1996 to 2010 and the chairperson as well. She was also the Chair of the medical indemnity insurance company MDA National’s Medical Liaison Council. She chaired the General Practice Advisory Council of three Federal Ministers for Health.

Jill was a Clinical Lead in the National E-Health Transition Authority from 2010 to 2014. This authority is instrumental in the establishment of Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records. She was honored with an award of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2007 for services to medicine, medical indemnity and to the community. She received her fellowship of The Australian Medical Association for outstanding service to the Association in 1995.

Other than practising medicine, Dr Maxwell loves to go for a hike and travel. She enjoys cycling, and gardening as well.
