Dr Anthony Lau

Dr Anthony Lau is a specialist in General Practice registered at the Medical Board of Australia. He has extensive experience of nearly 3 decades under his belt. He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Flinders University in 1990. He commenced his internship in 1991 at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

After the internship, Dr Lau went to Auckland and worked for 3 years to complete his hospital residency. He rotated in several medical specialties including General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Neonatology, Paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Cardiology.

Anthony obtained a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Ireland. He completed a Diploma in Paediatrics from Auckland University and a Diploma in Obstetrics from the same university as well. In 1994, he came back to Adelaide and attained his GP training. He received his fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 1999. He also obtained a Master in Family Medicine from Monash University.

Dr Lau started his general practice in Hong Kong in 1996. He established a solo practice and from 1999 till 2007, it was converted into a fully developed one with a very tightly knitted team of more than 100 amazing people including GPs and dentists. He joined a listed company in Hong Kong in 2007 and became the CEO of the medical division which was leading a team of 400 staff members.

Anthony provided his services as a volunteer at the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital in 2010. He worked there till 2013 as executive director and gained valuable experience in hospital as well as health care administration. At the same time, he was working at the Hong Kong Department of Health, HKSAR, China as a committee member of the Human Organ Transplant Board.

Dr Lau’s vast experience and qualifications set him apart as a highly competent doctor in Adelaide. He came back here in 2013 and joined a group practise in the Southern suburb. Prior to starting his city practice at Carrington Street, he worked there for over 5 years. He became passionate about Skin Cancer during the last few years and acquired a few certificates related to this field including a Certificate in Skin Cancer Surgery from The University of Queensland, a Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine from The University of Queensland, a Certificate in Skin Cancer Therapeutics and a Certificate of Dermatoscopy from Bond University

Currently, Anthony is pursuing advanced studies and training in another area of his interest that is Dermatology and is completing his Professional Diploma in General Dermatology from Bond University. He is enthusiastic to provide consultations to patients for any problem related to the skin, including Skin Cancer, Skin Cancer Surgery, Skin Checks and Skin Excisions. He also specialises in Family Medicine, Obstetrics, Mental Health, Children's Health, Weight Management, Paediatrics, Type 2 Diabetes and Chronic Disease.

Dr Anthony Lau is bilingual and can speak English, Cantonese, Chinese and Mandarin.
