Overview
Dr Yasameen Alshawi has 12 years of experience in general practice. She worked for 6 years as an overseas GP and 6 years as a GP in Australia. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Basrah University in 1998. She undertook 3 years of postgraduate training and worked as a general practitioner from 2000 to 2004 in the rural area of Baghdad. She completed a training of a year in ultrasound diagnostics and radiology.
In 2010, Yasameen relocated to Australia and received her certification from the Australian Medical Council (AMC) in 2013. During her residency, she worked at Calvary Hospital in Canberra and spent 3 years in Wagga Wagga working as a GP. She became a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2017.
Dr Alshawi is a renowned doctor in Tuggeranong with a special interest in Children’s Health, Elderly Care, Dermatology, Mental Health, Chronic Disease, Weight Management and Women’s Health including Antenatal and Postnatal Care. She skillfully performs Skin Cancer Checks and Procedures and other minor surgeries.
Other than being a doctor, Yasameen is a devoted mother of two teenage children who keep her busy in her spare time.
