While metropolitan Melbourne will continue under ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions, dental clinics are now permitted to see patients for general and preventative dental appointments. Residents are also permitted to travel further than 5km from their home to attend dental appointments. All six Australian Unity dental centres have now reopened.
How you can support us
Prior to your appointment: we ask that you call us to reschedule your dental appointment if:
-
You have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days or are awaiting test results for COVID-19;
-
You have been asked to self-isolate by your GP, treating medical practitioner or public health authorities;
-
You have been in contact with or live with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or who is awaiting test results for COVID-19;
-
You have returned from overseas or a cruise ship in the last 14 days; or
-
You are feeling unwell or currently experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms (for example, fever (high temperature), cough, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath).
At your appointment: when arriving at a clinic for your appointment, we ask that you:
-
Are wearing a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth
-
Remain in your car or outside and phone us to let us know you have arrived. We will let you know when you can enter the clinic
-
Allow our staff to temperature screen you prior to entering the dental centre
-
Help us to limit the number of people in the waiting room. To maintain physical distancing in our waiting rooms, we ask that only those with appointments and required chaperones are in the waiting room.
What Australian Unity dental clinics are doing
Our dentists and dental support staff already work according to very high infection control standards, so they can certainly adhere to the current level two restrictions. In addition to those high standards, we’ve introduced the following precautionary measures to ensure you can visit us with confidence:
-
Hand sanitiser has been placed in our waiting area and all treatment rooms and is encouraged to be used by all upon entering and leaving the clinic
-
In addition to our daily cleaning routine, we are more frequently cleaning ‘high touch’ items, including EFTPOS machines, phones and keyboards
-
Our treatment rooms are being cleaned even more thoroughly after each patient.
Our dental clinics currently remain open and we would welcome your visit. Thank you for your continued support, and please contact our team if you have any questions.
