When you visit us at our Carina dental clinic for the first time (for a non-emergency appointment) we want to learn more about you. Patients are not numbers to us. We are looking to understand your needs, concerns, and medical/dental history.

After speaking with you and reviewing your history we will make sure you are comfortable before beginning your dental examination. The first part of the examination includes both an intra-oral and extra-oral checkup. The intra-oral examination is about reviewing your teeth and previous dental work, but it is also important to examine your tongue, throat and gums for any redness or inflammation. When we perform the extra-oral examination, we include your lips and cheeks along with a bite jaw joint evaluation.

Following the examinations, we will then take dental x-rays. This will give us additional insight into any dental problems including levels of decay within, and between, your teeth. We will also be able to review your roots, bone levels, and if there are any current infections.

When your examination is complete, and your x-rays have been reviewed, we then work on developing a holistic, customized plan for you. This dental plan is based on your needs and includes treatment options that are explained in full. We want you to understand that you have choices and we do not believe that there is only one right way to deliver dental care to you.
