Overview
James completed his studies at Murdoch University in Western Australia, where he worked as a sessional academic; teaching developmental psychology, research methodology and adolescent psychology. James completed his Masters dissertation in collaboration with Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, focussing on therapeutic correlates of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
After completing his studies James held a variety of clinical positions in the public sector. This work took him across the state, where he conducted assessments and provided therapeutic interventions with people with highly complex needs and personal histories of extensive trauma.
James’s approach intertwines empathy and humour with best-practice interventions. He is particularly interested in helping people to effectively work through distress and psychological difficulties by developing tailored interventions for each client. James has particular interest in recurring or persistent psychological difficulties, complex trauma, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and attachment-focused parenting.
