Lorenzo Campagna received a Masters Degree in Chiropractic from Macquarie University in 1997, following completing a degree in Bachelor of Medical Science at Sydney University in 1995. In 2000, Lorenzo completed a qualification in Medical Acupuncture. Lorenzo subsequently completed an International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma and a Post Graduate Degree in Sports Chiropractic from Murdoch University, Perth in 2009.

Lorenzo has been working at Spinal and Sports Care since 1995 and has been a partner since 1998. During this time, he has gained vast experience, expertise and knowledge in this area of sports health care and has extensive experience in both spinal and extremity biomechanics and exercise prescription.

His experience in competitive, elite sports and training has set the backdrop for his keen interest in the relationship of musculoskeletal pain syndromes and dysfunction. Lorenzo has a keen interest in biomechanics and its relationship to the prevention of sports injuries, rehabilitation and return to sport. In particular, he has developed an interest in overuse injuries and their relationship to lower limb and foot biomechanics with muscle dysfunction in adolescent and professional sports players.

Lorenzo is involved extensively with addressing Sporting Organisations, Coaches and Athletes on a variety of topics relating to injury prevention techniques, injuries and effective management. Lorenzo was a member of the Macquarie University Advisory Board from 1998-2004 and has supervised Masters Students at Macquarie and Murdoch Universities, in their Clinical Sports Placements. Lorenzo currently maintains a radiographer license and is a professional member of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA), Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), Sports Chiropractic Australia (SCA) and International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS).

Lorenzo’s utilises a strong evidence based approach to injury assessment and management. He utilises a hands on approach of manual treatment, which includes soft tissue and myofascial / active releases, joint and spinal mobilisations and manipulations, condition specific musculo-skeletal dry needling, Kinesio Taping, electro-physical modalities and exercise prescription. He believes in a team approach and works closely with Sports Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Sports Podiatrists, Massage Therapists, Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning specialists.

Lorenzo has had extensive involvement with elite level sport in a variety of sports since 1993. In football, Lorenzo has worked with the Central Coast Mariners, Bonnyrigg White Eagles and Parramatta FC Football Club in the NSW Premier League, and is currently involved with the Western Sydney Wanderers. Lorenzo has been associated with Football NSW since 2006, and in 2009, looked after the Singapore National Soccer team, during their National team tour of Australia.

Lorenzo has worked with many Commonwealth and Olympic athletes from a diverse sporting background and attended National and International Tournaments for Indoor Cricket NSW, Oz Tag, Futsal Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Taekwondo and WMC Kickboxing. Since 2006, Lorenzo has been the Sports Chiropractor to Indoor Netball NSW.

Lorenzo has been a state track and field athlete. He has represented NSW (1988-90), Australian School Boys (1991) and the Australian U/17 Joeys in Soccer (1989-91). His highlight was representing Australia in the World Cup Qualifiers and in the FIFA World Cup held in Italy.
Lorenzo was a member of the St George Youth League and National Youth League (NYL) team (1987-91) and played National Youth (NYL) and National Soccer League (NSL) for Sydney Olympic (1992-93).

Lorenzo’s strengths are in his strong understanding of an athlete’s injury, management and return to sport protocols having been personally involved both, as an elite athlete, and now on the sidelines part of the sports medical team as a Sports Chiropractor.
