General Information
Telephone Calls - The Doctors of this practice will take Emergency Phone Calls, for all other phone calls a message will be taken by our Receptionist and passed onto the Doctor concerned and your call will be returned at their earliest convenience.
Prescriptions - For renewal of Prescriptions please speak to the Receptionist, a message will be taken and passed onto the Doctor concerned. A 24 hour waiting period is required for all Prescriptions. There is a fee of $5.00 for the Prescription, this must be paid on collection of your prescription from the front desk.
Referrals - When it is necessary, the Doctors are able to draw on opinions from Specialists, and if need be, refer you for further investigations. For renewal of Referrals please speak to the Receptionist, a message will be taken and passed onto the Doctor concerned. A 24 hour waiting period is required for all Referrals.
Practice Reminder System - The Practice offers a reminder system for preventative care for Pap Smears, Prostate Checks, Health Assessments and all Immunisations. If you would like to be included on or removed from our Register please ask your Doctors or Nursing Staff.
Billing Arrangements - Herdsman Medical Centre is a private billing practice. All eligible Pensioners and Children under 12 are bulked billed, Health care card holders are discounted (Monday-Friday). Full Private Billing applies on weekends.
Payment is required on the day and can be made by cash, cheque, eftpos or credit card. Billing arrangements may be discussed with the Drs or Staff prior to your consultation. Veterans are direct-billed to Veteran Affairs.
We also provide Your medicare rebate amount returned to you straight away if in your posession you have an eftpos card linked to a cheque or savings account, otherwise we have a complimentory service of forwarding your account to medicare for a return of your rebate. Medicare will send you your rebate cheque.
This practice has special interests in Family Medicine, Asthma, Antenatal Care, Pregnancy Care, Travel Medicine, Travel Medicals, Women's Health, Men's Health, Immunisations & Vaccinations, Dive Medical, Echocardiography, Pre-Employment Health Check, Minor Surgery and Travel Medicals.
