The ANZCA Training Program
The ANZCA Training Program takes a minimum of five years of supervised Approved Training and is divided into Basic and Advanced Training.
- ANZCA Basic Training (2 years)
- Primary Examination
- Four Educational Modules
- Introduction to Anaesthesia and Pain Management
- Professional Attributes
- Anaesthesia for Major and Emergency Surgery
- One other module (listed in the Advanced Training)
- EMAC (Effective Management of Anaesthetic Crises)
or - EMST (Emergency Management of Severe Trauma)
- ANZCA Advanced Training (3 years)
- Final Examination
- Complete all Educational Modules
- Obstetric Anaesthesia and Analgesia
- Anaesthesia for Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery
- Neuroanaesthesia
- Anaesthesia for ENT, Eye, Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Paediatric Anaesthesia
- Intensive Care
- Pain Medicine – Advanced Module
- Education and Scientific Enquiry
- Professional Practice
On completion of all Training Program requirements the Trainee will be awarded the Diploma of Fellowship and be entitled to use the qualification of FANZCA – Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
