The ACCRM Training Program

Completion of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine Training Program takes 4 years full time.

There are a number of different routes to successful completion of training.

These include:

  • The standard “Vocational Preparation Pathway” outlined below. Other pathways include the Remote Vocational Training
  • The Remote vocational Training Scheme for doctors already working remotely who would not be able to complete training without distance education and remote supervision
  • Independent Pathway for those who do not undertake training through the AGPT; training can be planned directly with ACCRM

The Vocational Preparation Pathway

  1. Successfully gain a training position in the Australian General Practice Training Program (AGPT) administered by General Practice Education and Training (GPET) Ltd.
  2. Train with an ACCRM accredited Regional Training Provider including
    1. Rural General Practice
    2. Aboriginal Medical Service
    3. Royal Flying Doctor Service
    4. Accredited Hospital
  3. Demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes and training requirements within a four year period
  4. Successfully complete ACCRM’s assessment program
