The ACCRM Training Program
Completion of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine Training Program takes 4 years full time.
There are a number of different routes to successful completion of training.
These include:
- The standard “Vocational Preparation Pathway” outlined below. Other pathways include the Remote Vocational Training
- The Remote vocational Training Scheme for doctors already working remotely who would not be able to complete training without distance education and remote supervision
- Independent Pathway for those who do not undertake training through the AGPT; training can be planned directly with ACCRM
The Vocational Preparation Pathway
- Successfully gain a training position in the Australian General Practice Training Program (AGPT) administered by General Practice Education and Training (GPET) Ltd.
- Train with an ACCRM accredited Regional Training Provider including
- Rural General Practice
- Aboriginal Medical Service
- Royal Flying Doctor Service
- Accredited Hospital
- Demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes and training requirements within a four year period
- Successfully complete ACCRM’s assessment program
