PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Emergency physician with a passion for rugby, medical informatics and medical education. I recognise the need for enhanced medical information distribution in Australia both at a structural and an educational level and have created an interactive intranet site to disseminate medical education and multimedia at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

This intranet based learning resource allows the user to cover an extensive part of the emergency medicine syllabus in a progressive and peer reviewed manner. Specific modules have been designed to incorporate the needs of medical students, AMC candidates, FACEM Part I candidates, Fellowship candidates, consultants and postgraduate nursing staff.

Additional Roles

  • Medical Editor for the Medical Education Blog Life in the Fast Lane
  • CIO (Chief Information Officer) for Popfossa.com. Popfossa is a growing online community of health professionals which allows access to a dynamically updated list of World Health Conferences and Scientific Meetings.
  • Director and CIO of HealthEngine.com.au. HealthEngine is an Australian-based medical search engine that allows users to safely search for general practitioners, surgeons, medical specialists, hospitals and medical practices across Australia. HealthEngine provides a simple and intuitive navigational structure to guide users through the maze of health related questions from finding the right doctor or medical specialist through to learning about medical tests, procedures, investigations, diseases and conditions
  • Information Strategist for Elsevier Australia to enhance the rapid communication of educational material from journals and textbooks to the largely technophobic ranks of Australian physicians. In partnership with Elsevier Australia I am creating an educational interface and eLearning portal which will facilitate discriminatory feedback to enhance and further develop logical learning tools.
